We’re partnering with a growing non-profit organization seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity offering long-term stability, hands-on exposure to both accounting and payroll, and the chance to support meaningful work.

About the Role:

As a Staff Accountant, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of financial records and supporting the organization’s month-end close, payroll, and day-to-day accounting operations. You’ll work closely with the Controller, Senior Accountant, and CFO in a collaborative environment where your contributions will be highly visible.

Hours: Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm, 35 hour work week 

Hybrid Schedule: First 2 weeks onsite for training, then hybrid 2-3 days a week onsite

Salary: $55,000/year - $65,000/year

Responsibilities:

  • Record, verify, and reconcile transactions to ensure accuracy of the general ledger.
  • Prepare journal entries, bank reconciliations, and account reconciliations.
  • Manage fixed assets, depreciation, prepaid schedules, and incentive tracking.
  • Review monthly results, analyze variances, and investigate discrepancies.
  • Handle treasury functions, including ACH/wire transfers and cash activity logs.
  • Own biweekly payroll processing for ~120 employees (Paylocity).
  • Administer time & attendance system; validate payroll data and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support month-end close, ad-hoc reporting, and special projects as needed.
  • Provide back-up coverage for other fiscal operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting 
  • 2+ years of accounting experience (open to non-profit or corporate backgrounds).
  • Experience with payroll processing (120+ employees).
  • Month-end close and reconciliation experience required.
  • Strong Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, INDEX-MATCH).
  • Knowledge of GAAP and not-for-profit accounting.
  • Software: Sage Intacct (required/strongly preferred), Paylocity (preferred), ADP.
  • Strong communicator, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
